Don't underestimate the Canadian resolve to not visit the United States. The Maine governor just visited New Brunswick, where she was told by Premier Holt that our province is expecting a great summer tourism boost from Canadians who won't travel to the USA. Elbows up in the Maritimes!
There have been multiple stories of east coast hotels and such talking about how reservations have dropped off. They don't understand how much the 51st state bullshit pissed most of us off.
A Canadian died today in ICE custody, any Canadian who travels to the USA is insane.
Absolutely not minimizing it, the devil is in the details. He moved to the US in 1988, became a PR 3 years later. Was convicted of racketeering and drugs in 2023. On May 15th he was arrested by ICE during a probation appointment. This was not a tourist. In custody deaths are nonetheless horrible.
That sounds a whole lot like minimising to me, no one in their right mind should ever set foot in the US
People are dropping it everywhere as a tourist thing. He's been a permanent resident of the US since 1991.
I never said anything about toruism, the US is a fascist state, period. No one is safe.
I've seen it posted multiple times as 'tourists don't go, look, a Canadian died in custody'.
