On July 24th, AltNPS announced a $5,000 donation to the Yosemite Climbing Association and said they'd "spotlight an organization doing meaningful work" every two weeks. Anyway, it's officially been three weeks since July 24th.

Even if they did disburse it, these are not people who should be deciding where and how much of grifted funds are reallocated.

Moreover what AltNPS is doing should not result in that kind of disposable income, given how many people doing actual helpful work are struggling.

AltNPS has been shouting out @freedcproject.bsky.social and @texasforall.bsky.social, which is great! But they haven't done a formal announcement of support of either of those organizations, and certainly haven't announced any thousand-dollar donations. It's not the same thing.

I was never able to confirm AltNPS's donation to the Yosemite Climbing Association; a few emails to YCA went unanswered. If they did make that donation, that's wonderful, but given everything else, I'm always going to be skeptical of anything they say.
