I appreciate that many headlines about RFK Jr.'s eugenicist "mitochondrial challenges" note that he has no medical training, and I think it's also important to note that if a doctor said it it would still mean that doctor was a lying eugenicist.

I think in year 6 of a mismanaged airborne pandemic where most doctors won’t wear masks we really should stop using credentials as a one-stop proof of trustworthiness, rather than one signal among many. Which, obviously, is terrible in an era of conspiracy weirdoes and scammers running the show

Perhaps related to why my insurance doesn't cover autism diagnoses for adults, even though we know that it's wildly underdiagnosed among adults, especially in women and people of color of all genders. And a diagnosis right now is a Catch-22, anyway.

You need a diagnosis to access many services but it also makes you subject to discrimination and surveillance, which is a fun dichotomy that a lot of disabled people face.

RFK Jr is a quack! A method of improving the human race, eugenics was increasingly discredited as unscientific & racially biased especially after the adoption of its doctrines by the Nazis in order to justify their treatment of Jews, disabled people, & other minority groups.
