For decades I have wondered how German citizens in the early 1930s could allow Hitler and his henchmen to take over and completely turn their country into an evil, terrifying empire. In the last 7 months, having lived through this daily, incremental slide to dictatorship, I now understand.

I had always imagined myself as a hero in this situation. I understand the German citizens now. I am very disappointed in myself and my country.

💯 I felt this slow terrible slide 4 a decade now, I've screamed, I've yelled, I've been told I'm overreacting. But this is fascism now pure & simple. I look around and don't understand how we've not put an end to this. Moreover I see that some people actually seem to be enjoying this. It's just sad.

Hey.... exactly! My parents were born in 2 different parts of Germany, 2 different social classes... 1929 and 1931. I have wondered/struggled with that most of my 63 years on this planet.
