Thank you for helping out. Earlier this summer I happened upon a red tail on Reedy Creek. I worked with Chickahominy Raptor Rescue and they really went above and beyond to help this little hawk. It passed the next day. It appears the issue wasn't H5N1, but lead poisoning.

That's so sad the hawk passed. Where I live there have already been bird deaths from H5N1.😖💔 I hear the primary cause of lead poisoning in hawks is they ingest lead bullet fragments in prey. Sad.

This little girl fell out of a nest in my friends yard a few months ago. A baby Great Horned Owl. We called a raptor rescue, they came right over & we got her up in a bucket in the tree. Her parents were still around & fed her. About 2 weeks later, she flew off on her own.

Lucky you got him to a rehabber, he looks way too young to have survived in the wild. Thank you for helping save him.

So does LITERALLY everyone in this thread giving people props and saying how heartwarming it is. Facts are facts and the facts are that it’s either a) not in this country where it’s not legal without a rehabbers license or b) the video is staged/not real/pieces stitched together.

Also it’s been proven by many animal rights groups and 501s that people staging videos for likes and follows is rampant with our current completely unregulated social media obsession. ✌🏼

It's possible that, for one, it was determined the owl could not survive in the wild, which was my point about 'assuming a lot.' But yeah, I get it.

Yes thank you indeed. We've done enough harm to animals and their environment that a small gesture of kindness and concern like this goes a long way in restoring my faith in others. Owls are fascinating creatures and I see the love exhibited by a grateful one.

Sweet! My mom bought 1 from a man who shot it in the leg + was going to stuff it. The vet said it'd be OK. We put it in the attic, fed it raw meat + it ate wasps who flew in. I rubbed it between the eyes w/a paintbrush. It broke the screen in the window and flew away + came back to visit twice!

It should not have to brake your window screen to go back to nature !

I didn't have room to describe the screen. It was already torn. It's how those delicious wasps got in. Mom left the window open so the owl could go when it wanted This happened 50+ years ago. There was no professional 2 turn 2. Now we have several local sources of professional help 4 wild animals.

Climbed up to clean my owl box. Opened the door to find a little Screech Owl staring back at me. I slowly closed the door and backed down the ladder. As far as I know the little guy never flinched.
