Except that "Medicare for all" is actually Medicaid expansion. Because that's what is actually doable.

Medicare for All has meant traditional Medicare (eliminating insurance companies). They suck, but going to war with them is suicidal. Obama knew that. Universal health coverage is a fine platform.
