if you're comfortable with proprietary solutions, ubiquiti. if you want openwrt, just get any modern supported hardware, i like gl.inet

Hi! I'm an InfoSec professional, and mesh routers are better than ever. They really help if you have a C or L shaped apartment or have brick/concrete walls in your house. I recommend the TP-Link Deco series for their reliability, quick critical updates, and for not selling our data to China (yet).

I was genuinely impressed by the TP-Link mesh I got for my friend's place. It was kind of a swing in the dark but it worked out great.
