The CDC has a new COO, Lynda Chapman. She has no relevant experience for the role—but much more important: She's a Trumper and has a website where she sells photos of trump and Georgia Repubs, including one of the 19 who were indicted in connection with the attempt to overturn the 2020 election.

Jeremy Faust, MD Aug 23, 2025 The CDC has a new Chief Operating Officer, Lynda Chapman, Inside Medicine has learned. The news has not yet been announced publicly, but was confirmed by several agency employees. Two social media posts, (one on Facebook, the other on Instagram) by friends congratulating Chapman were deleted on Friday. Chapman is a lawyer and has also worked as a pharmacist (including at Walgreens). But her overall experience in public health does not appear to match the typical requirements of the CDC’s Chief Operating Officer—at least, not from what I have been able to glean so far. Chapman does have a website where she mainly sells photographs from Republican events, including images of President Trump. Also for sale are photographs of Republican politicians in Georgia, including David Shafer, who was one of 19 defendants indicted by a grand jury in connection with the failed attempt to overturn the 2020 election. Chapman has also been a modest donor in Republican politics for many years.
