BREAKING: 20,000 United States federal employees accepted the Trump administration's offer to leave their positions but be paid through September, per Axios
Forgive me if I don’t believe the number. It has to come from an admin source and they’ve proven unreliable.
Seems like an awfully round number. How does it break down by agency, department, location? I’ll wait. 🦗
oh right, i'm sure they'll continue to be paid
I know a lot of people are questioning the number, but the fact that it’s so low makes me think it’s legit. And all 20K are going to get screwed by Elon on the payout.
The goal was 200,000 (10 percent).
“Over the past five fiscal years, attrition peaked in fiscal 2022 at 7.6%. That year, nearly 150,000 federal employees left the government, with 70,000 departing due to retirement and 77,000 quitting their position. Sep 4, 2024”
In other words, this would’ve happened by natural attrition. But….anything for shock value these days.
Exactly
Suckers.
In case the election didn’t clarify how stupid our population is…
Its all lies. Per USCode §6329a - max of 10 admin days per calendar year. Off more than 10 days? Regular leave is charged. Not enough leave to cover thru 9/30? Terminated! Plus, if you accept another full time job, govt pay stops. Laws are not changed via memo & wishful thinking.
Y’all are about to have even more trouble getting jobs depending on how many (non-retirement) employees are leaving, the private sector will hire these people who are far more developed and experienced than you
Being as the number of federal employees is 2.4 million excluding military, that is a reduction of 0.83%, and probably all people retiring anyway. I’m not impressed!
This is just crazy times
Every organization has some dead weight low performers at the bottom, so this is probably them. Or people about to retire or leave anyway.
Less than 0.7% and most were about to retire from what I've seen. Feds standing strong, good to see some resistance today on multiple fronts
Lies, more lies and Elon and merry little band of tech bro fascist.
Spoiler alert, they won't be paid through September.
was thinking the same thing
Per terms publicly posted on the interwebs, they could sign up for the “through September” plan and still get paid…and work a private sector job at the same time. So IF those terms are abided, and IF they lined up another job, they could double dip for 8 months.
What is data source for this number?
lmao rubes
2.25 million fed employees. About 2% retire each year. Over the past five fiscal years, attrition peaked in fiscal 2022 at 7.6%. That year, nearly 150,000 federal employees left the government, with 70,000 departing due to retirement and 77,000 quitting their position.Sep 4, 2024
😢 we just keep given the little dictator what he wants ...
lol they were probably people close to retirement. Also, I don’t believe any numbers coming out of this admin. They would lie about it just to claim “victory”
Oof they probably lost their retirement then. These clowns aren’t going to pay anyone anything
But yeah anyone that took it was dumb. There is no legal contract in place, they aren’t getting paid. Idk how one could argue it’s good governance to have people stop working but still pay them lol that’s why I don’t believe it happened. Made up numbers
Feds retire at 55 I think. A lot of people work past that now so there is probably a solid chance a lot of them were that age. I bet it’s really old and really young.
Axios just repeats what the administration tells them without any fact-checking. Nobody knows what the number is
They may as well say “A Bigly Number, nobody ever saw so many people”
Stupid
Fools
Only 2,980,000 to go! 😂
0.00666667%
That's probably less than the annual attrition rate. Just paid extra for what would have left anyway.
Yeah we are doomed
It’s barely 1% of the civil employee total. None of those people will actually be paid through to September. Most of those people seem likely to be those in probationary periods, already pass retirement but hadn’t made the move yet or those who were already wanting to leave.
I see good to know, scary still however.
Definitely scary but thankfully from the different groups I’m in and what friends have been saying, most people are in for the fight. They’re not backing down.
Get new material.

but they won't be paid through september, will they?
About 1%
Possibly as low as 0.7%
Government efficiency is when you pay people 2/3rd year's salary to do nothing
Watch. Trump will screw them.
forget september, i’ll be surprised if they’re paid next week
That wasn't the offer though.
