BREAKING: Trump to announce the "Trump savings accounts," which will allow parents and guardians to invest funds in the financial markets on behalf of children. The government would deposit $1,000 into a tax-deferred, low-cost index fund account that will track the stock market for each newborn.

Two things I gather from this: 1. He's front loaded on said index fund. 2. He only allowed melanoma to have Barron for tax relief and opened credit cards in his name the day he was born.

I guess that will help pump up the market benefiting those who are already invested (the same people getting the biggest tax breaks in dollar terms and those least affected by any tariff caused price increases). 🤑

They’re not saving the children. They’re branding them. A $1,000 sticker slapped on a crumbling system, sold as a future. 🧠 Read it. Share it. Sound the siren: open.substack.com/pub/404conse...

Presidents have been talking about something like this for decades, let's see if it works. Trump is just trying to find anything popular and at the same time beneficial for the top 10% of Americans who hold 90% of the stocks out there. When this happens it will spike the stock market.

This is a no brainer. Anyone on SS if they just invested that money that went into it they’d all be millionaires.

I think that assumes alot. It depends how they invested and when, their investing behaviors in bad times? For many current retirees the access we have to markets today (think ETFs, mutual funds, index funds, low cost/low barrier brokerage accounts) did not exist during their working years.

“Tax deferred, low cost index fund”. I think we can assume it’s something close to a target date fund at its most conservative or a Sp500 at the riskiest. This is for newborns, if you haven’t rebalanced your account from birth to retiring that’s on you. This is 100000% better than SS.

Nah. 1st, that’s our tax money, but they are making it sound to people like free money. 2nd, taking $5000 of services away to invest in $1000 for later is not a good deal. 3rd who trusts trump not to screw up the market again?

When you can't get a bailout because citizens won't put up with it, you create a backdoor bailout. I'll tell you right now Wall St. is sitting on enough cat shit wrapped in dog shit they need the American people to soak it up or they are screwed.

Children whose parents fall in the bottom rungs of the socio-economic ladder will likely not add any additional funding, nor will their family members or employers, while the wealthy add $5k per year. In 20 years, we will see the same thing we see today -- the haves having more than the have-nots.

The increased wealth of the haves will create inflation and make the value of the lowest accounts will not provide any new buying power. My children and children from families with above-average means should not be eligible.

They'd be better off in international indexes. Trump's markets have lost money since he took office and it's only gonna get worse with tariff chaos, international tourism shut down, self-inflicted brain drain, deportation of labor force, and other self-destruction
