One of the most important lessons of Sesame Street? A functional community doesn’t have to be homogeneous. On top of that, a community is functional because it isn’t.

Very, very true! Hadn't thought of Sesame Street that way but it was obvious. Damn MAGA don't realize the need & strength of diversity. They all want to be robots -- uninspired & boring as hell. Democracy is all about living together peacefully even if different. Duh!
Also, we've got the funk. youtu.be/HUL4T8WcFdA?...
Agreed but let’s also add: the street can be an awesome public space of fun, social interaction and learning
It still has citizens that live in bins though
Fair point but Oscar chose that and that bin has a whole bunch of rooms that we haven’t seen. He’s got the best trash palace in creation.
Ohhhhh so it's "a lifestyle choice" is it?!?!
He even sang a song about it…. youtu.be/rxgWHzMvXOY?...
Damn that's pretty compelling evidence
He is a fictional character. That’s the best we are going to get.
For Oscar, yes.
In my old neighborhood you'd hear English, Yiddish, Russian, German, Armenian, Greek, and Polish (that I can recall offhand). My school was a blend of every shade of human. My current neighbors are Turkish, Ukrainian, African American, Dominican, and white. We help each other. THAT'S my America.
