Typical songwriting for me: “Hell yeah this riff is sick.” *keeps playing the riff for a while* “Wait a sec…” *makes a minor alteration to the riff* *realizes the riff is already a song* “Well shit.” I suppose it does lend credit to my ear for unintentionally figuring out existing songs.

Haha this is me all the time but...The only thing worse than this is being in a band with someone, they leave and join another very successful well known band and then you hear YOUR RIFF on their next album with zero credit. I'm not salty about this at all
