I think it probably was scrumpy. The pub was famous for its cider. Not long after that, they stopped serving snake bites. I think the vomit was making the carpet smell.

Most places declined to serve snakebite as anyone with the slightest inclination to violence in drink became incredibly violent after snakebite. I had one usually placid mate who got very fighty very quickly.
