I only knew because someone I've been following since before my TT hiatus reposted a reaction video on his account, and then started stitching videos calling out the influencers involved. They are referring to themselves as "normal gays".

Oh I've heard of them, though before now I assumed they were self-hating conservatives. It's wild that the lefties are starting in on this trend too. Further proof I'm just meant to be a political orphan who doesn't fit in anywhere. 😑

It is concerning that it's a bandwagon thing now. When I came here, I did know gay and trans creators that were "Progressives" and used LGBTQIA+ to market their work, then claimed they weren't part of the community. When they did so I N0pEd out on my support, but this is going much further.
