Aside: TIL I recall playing as a kid, calling out: “Ollie Ollie oxen free.” Never knew what it meant other than, I couldn’t now be tagged. In college, I majored in German and later worked in Germany. That was decades ago. NEVER did I realize the phrase was: “alle, alle, such sind frei!” !!!

I think most people say Ollie Ollie oxen free as kids - me included) however, I’m a total nerd and need to know the origin of everything.

The phrase never made sense to me, so I had to do my research. 😂😂
