As an Albertan yup. It’s the most embarrassing fucking province. But we have organizations here that are challenging their blatant human rights violations and we’ve gotten them to pause their book ban by using “malicious compliance” (Smith’s words) so we’re trying to fight back ;-;

Unfortunately, the NDP really only got through because the right wing vote was split at the time. Alberta's vote is majority controlled by rural ridings and the only way for NDP to get in is if both Edmonton and Calgary vote almost completely NDP.
There's been efforts lately to undermine urban ridings further too by redistricting and making them partial urban/rural. Happening in Lethbridge right now. :(
An NDP overspending scandal (misuse of funds for travel) sorta started the domino effect but def wasn't the first or only precursor, conservatives have been operating on a "them vs us" manipulation game since forever but trump and covid lockdown anxieties/brain damage made it way worse
