Mmm… I would place some of those into a grouping called Central America… and let’s not get into whether Greenland is North America or not.

North America is a continent. These are the countries that are on it. Central America is like Southeast Asia or North Africa, a designation to make it easier to talk about a region with shared characteristics, but those countries are still a part of the larger continent.
