At its core, the problem with these tariffs is that they won't affect manufacturing one twit, but they will allow Trump to cut income taxes for the 1% even further. That's what this is all about. If the 1% spend their wealth outside the US, they will pay no taxes. That's his goal.
I think it likely the SCOTUS will say presidential power on foreign affairs is absolute and that these tariffs, the power over which Congress has ceded to the executive, is therefore being wielded appropriately by the president. I don't agree, but Roberts is the worst Chief Justice we've ever had.
