The Democratic party desperately needs an infusion of new vibrant blood. We need more people like Newsom and Sanders with a spine.
I am going to have to learn a little more about Graham Platner before I fund him. He might be OK but then he should talk about what he would do differently & not just slam Democrats, who he will need to work with if he wins. I want new leadership too! We have to have someone fight for us, not GOP.
I got an email fund raising message from Graham Platner that bothered me. In it, he is bashing the Democrat leadership in one sentence and just Democrats in general in another. I am hoping we do not have another Manchin or Sinema chosen to vote with the GOP if Graham wins. It really bothers me now.
My bias: I want the Democrat with the best chance of WINNING that Senate seat to run.

I appreciate that insider view. (I'm not working for or against anyone, and know very little about Maine.) I'd just say that as a fairly moderate Democrat, I'd happily give my vote to ANY Democrat--no matter what adjective ('socialist,' 'corporate,' whatever) is attached to their name.
I'm in CD2 and I think he'd do well here. Not well-well, but I think he has the capacity to peel off some Trumpers and pick up disaffected indies without activating MAGA to turn out the way Mills would.

Platner’s platform is capable of getting Republican votes Mills would never get. Don’t get me wrong, I have deep respect for Mills, also super grateful she was in the Blaine House during the Covid lockdown. That said, the establishment dems that are blackballing Platner need to go for good.

However great Janet Mills may be, she is 77 years. Susan Collins is 72. A new generation needs to step up. In addition, Maine will still need a governor that can say NO to Trump. Leave Janet where she is.
Maine does not allow a third term for governors. Janet Mills will complete her second term at the end of 2026. It looks like it will be an interesting primary season in 2026 for governor with both parties and possibly for U.S. Senator on the Democratic side.
She will be 73 by then. Retirement age. She can continue mentoring and supporting younger politicians rather than competing with them.

3rd party voting will not save us from Orange Rectum Mouth, we need a Serious Bid in the Mid-Terms of completely voting Dems in Congress & then again in 2028. Some may not like the idea but it is either that or a continuation of what is going on now. A majority in congress could rebuff the asshole.
