Not recommending (buying the booze part) it, but if you have wine or beer they interact with you anyway to verify your age. I had a 10 minute conversation with the self checkout guy last time I went to Costco, when he checked my ID, it turned out we grew up near each other. Great chat!

I use the cashier too, they don't give me a discount for self checkout so why use it? If I do, I get the "watcher" to help me.

I agree totally! More so since I live alone. I need interaction with people.

I’m too much of an introvert - I’d rather do the self checkout. My dad refuses to use them; says it puts people out of a job. He’s so damn considerate sometimes!
