Let’s hope Republicans in Congress will actually stand up if Trump tries to do this. I think in Senate they’d need to get past Dem filibuster so should be a dead-end route to do legislatively. Who knows through what nonsense he’d try through executive order and what SCOTUS would do. Scary as hell.

There is no scenario under which the US is safer or more prosperous outside NATO. I simply cannot begin to comprehend the logic of anyone who argues otherwise. Presumably every US President since Truman thought the same: NATO leverages US strength & prosperity.

I believe that every President until the present one has indeed thought that. No matter how I might agree or disagree with them politically, I have never doubted that. This President has destroyed every norm that I previously thought sacrosanct.
