The thing everyone misses with the Weimar Republic comparisons is that every major political faction in Weimar Germany was comprised of former WW1 soldiers who’d gotten used to killing people. ICE can’t handle having a sandwich thrown at them

The Germans also still had a king who had had true authoritarian power up less than a decade ago, slipping back into that was not a hard sell for people.
