God I love my boss. We had a meeting to further plan our neighborhood resource event at the library and someone wanted the cops to be there. My boss said very politely “what exactly are the cops contributing to this?”

She completely shut down that conversation. Why tf would anyone who is experiencing homelessness show up to a resource fair if there were a bunch a cops there? They would actually deter people from what we’re trying to do.

Just SUPER grateful we have a branch manager that is actually wary and distrustful of cops instead of the more stereotypical librarian that leans heavily on them to police patrons. I guess working libraries in impoverished locations for 20+ years does that to you.
