frankly incredible how me-centric this is. handful of 70's thrillers that i've been meaning to rewatch, one of my favorite horror films, the two PTA movies i haven't seen and nearly every Altman film

@joshiswrite.bsky.social 70s thrillers … 👀
have y'all ever seen Sorcerer 😈
Oh no
buddy,, i’ve never even heard of it
I want you to imagine the most stressful film you can, and then put Roy Scheider in as the lead. It’s so good lmao
It’s about dudes (who rock?) driving a big truck up a mountain, but the practical effects are so good and so intense that I was on the edge of my seat anxiously wondering if the IRL cast and crew were going to survive the shoot.
i almost had a panic attack in the theater, not because i didn't know what was coming, but because i *did* and a lot of the audience did not
That was the moment your gf lost her mind if I remember correctly. Because I did NOT see it coming
haha you're in for a bad time (it's one of my favorites though)
@lenaisok.bsky.social after you watch it, you get to read this fun essay about it! www.brightwalldarkroom.com/2016/03/30/a...
This is also very me centric. Love 70s paranoia. We really need 2020s paranoia to be a thing in cinema. Paranoia flicks can't come back soon enough.
(those 70s thrillers and those PTA flicks are of course bangers also)
same, the 70's paranoia is one of my absolute favorite mini-genres
Hell yeah 🤙
Punch Drunk Love is one of my favorite Phillip Seymour Hoffman performances
that's all it takes to sell me on it lol
