What I’ve suggested is incremental progress is better than regression. They’re saying we’re better off abandoning everyone and regressing. How does that help their cause?

You’re right. However, I was not born during the Carter administration and was a kid during Clinton. So maybe take your frustration out on your generation for failing to act to protect younger generations.
