I’m actually impressed with the Cypriots that they’ve avoided a war since the 70s. Who knew that the international community can simply impose a peace with UN soldiers

Turkish Cyprus is somehow more democratic than its puppet master which is fairly unique in modern history.

Yeah that's the closest. Finlandization never quite entailed only having one backer but it is the closest.

Us Turkish Cypriots would have been impressed too. If only it were true. The UN entered Cyprus in 1964 and allowed Turks to be oppressed right up to the Greek coup of 15 July 74 and the subsequent Turkish intervention 5 days later. The Turkish army secured the current peace. Not the UN.
