What exactly is the government supposed to do with a company that doesn't negotiate other than binding arbitration?
Let the unionized employees in a legal strike position do so. Or, and I know that this is bananas crazy and unprecedented, the government could enact legislation to ensure that people are fairly and accurately compensated for the work they do.
Let them strike.
All governments use this process to force arbitration. It’s not a bad thing but I agree that we’re not beholden to it. I’m happy to see the union standing firm and putting the ball back in their court
I’m glad you’re out the Heather, because here in Ontario the NDP is non-existent and irrelevant. Nationally the leadership is out to effing lunch. These times call for a strong social democratic movement. Too bad we don’t have one. Thanks for your efforts
Preach, Heather. Shareholders, legislators, and conglomerates (who receive tax funded bailouts) don't make or break the economy. Labour does. Bankers need reminding of that.
Air Canada is awful, I was disgusted to learn how little flight attendants are paid. I hope other unions back them in their fight
The abuse of section 107 is utterly unacceptable. Canadians deserve a government that differentiates us from the disunited states of america.
