My kid is getting ready to go to work. When I said I hoped it would be a quiet day he told me labor day is always a hard day bc people come in constantly to buy alcohol all day long, and they are even less respectful of common courtesy.

Your kid is correct. People in public on holidays behave badly. I do not know why. You would think they would be happy but they punish the people who are made to work on holidays.
