Most would still vote for him. How do Dems get their vote when they vote R’s no matter how much it hurts them. I really don’t understand.

Because their bigotry matters more then anything else. And where is that bigotry taught the most? Their "church". Until we confront the churches this goes nowhere.

Voters always vote their self-interests. Even Republican members of Congress realize this and are starting to question Trump’s moves. Farmers will bail on Trump if they get eviscerated. MAGA is a very influential force but even that won’t override self-interest.

There isn't any self interest though, just paper tigers the party themselves sets up and knocks down. None of them are meaningful on the day-to-day of the constituents, and yet the overall policy is going to leave them poorer, hungrier, and sicker than ever. The mind boggles.

the paper tigers are a substitute for self-interest, unfortunately, but even they have limits

If eviscerated, they won’t have anything. Bailing won’t matter.

Voting for Trump was always against self-interest of farmers, rural residents and most Americans.

He screwed them over last time and then paid them off with our tax dollars. If they don’t get it by now (and they don’t) they won’t get it later.
