My POV: I don't find the social media focus on body-shaming Trump to be helpful. It's just another example of ageism and personal attacks that have no place in intelligent political discussions, particularly when Trump's government is causing historic shifts that will harm millions of lives.
Valid approach, but I disagree. The Maga belief structure ties to Trump's strength and manliness. That is why there are all those images of angry virile Trump. I even heard Kennedy Jr. referring to Trump's great genes. Attacking that image is important and was successful with GOP voters vs Biden.
Agree, and disagree. I'm a fat guy who could be healthier with a little more exercise. An American!! Trump's cult posts fake photos of a muscular dude who's invincible. Trump put out a post saying that anyone who calls him FLOTUS will suffer. So I may fat-shame the President. I mean #FLOTUS
I'm not sure, but maybe anything that gets to him and shifts his focus away from implementing these historic shifts, if even for a couple of days, is helpful in the long term.
It's part of the extreme culture war we observe in the USA. Each side is behaving hatefully to counter the previously perceived hate from the other side. There is no common ground in this desert.🙄
History seldom remembers physical failings, but it does remember actions and their consequences. This regime has done more terrible undemocratic actions in 6 months than previous "bad" US governments committed in a decade. Scary times ahead in a race to complete destruction of democracy.

Why is it acceptable to do something just because he has done it? I'd think it'd be a strong argument for NOT doing it. Why would we want to become like the person/regime/ideology we're fighting?
I don’t see it as being about what’s acceptable but rather what’s necessary. He’s radically altered the playing field and the usual rules no longer work. The urgency to stop him grows daily and it has to be a case of pulling out all the stops to gain as much advantage as possible.
I don't know. I can understand that perspective, but to me playing by his rules and means is no different than him winning. The face is different, but the actions are the same. We can never destroy a monster by becoming the monster.
You don’t destroy a monster by being nice to it or worrying about their feelings. You can’t fight a Nazi and the establishment of an authoritarian regime by taking the moral high ground, when they have no morals and ignore the law. When a bully punches you in the mouth, you need to punch him back.
The moral high ground is the road to take if you want to avoid becoming whatever Trump is. And body shaming and homophobic slurs are NOT fighting. If I'm worried about anything it's what society turns into when it 'goes low ' especially since that's what happens when they're not fighting at all.

Yes. I’m not a fan of comments on appearance. Appearance doesn’t reflect character, generally, or ability. Look at Donny Junior— pretty handsome guy but frightening. The US collectively got caught with their figurative pants down, despite decades of evidence. Solutions, please, not playground talk.

Americans (and really everyone) need to focus on the shifts underway and call them out for what they are and help promote facts, challenges, and resistance. Juvenile political attacks are what we should be avoiding, not promoting. Low level distractions dilute and lower the public's focus.

If you want to challenge my ideas, challenge them. I'm sure I have physical attributes that could be picked on in some way. But that has nothing to do with the validity of my ideas. There is much about Trump's ideas to criticize and call out. Picking at personal appearance borders on defeatist.
No one needs to cite anything about the physical; the fact that he an idiot: a felon, an adjudicated rapist, and a con man is enough fodder.
I see a gradual slide underway, a slide toward the tactics of MAGA and Trump. If the remainder of America slides down to that level, then all will be lost. It's hard enough as it is, but devolving all political discussion into mindless smears and jabs from both sides leads to nowhere good.
The thing that worries me most is people on the left who deliberately posting misinformation & misquotes. (I know that it can happen inadvertently that's why it's important to check before posting). Countering ring wing disinformation with left wing disinformation leads to cyncism & disengagement.
I promise to always share honestly what I am thinking, like I did earlier in the pandemic, even if it runs at odds with common opinions. Right now I am thinking that there is much too much normalizing, apathy, and aimlessness among those who believe in social democracy, from the top to the bottom.

While I'm not a fan of body shaming, in this context the "when they go low we go high" approach is just a meaningless quaint slogan - the time for adult conversations has long since passed. If Americans want to end this, they need to fight fire with fire.
You do recall that every ageism critique was done on President Biden? Why treat Trump any differently? These are narrow minded people we are dealing with and reality must hurt.
He's obsessed with shallow things like looks. It reminds me of men who will only date pretty women and who make negative comments about women who aren't attractive. Many of these guys need to know how absurd and shallow they sound, especially when they're even less attractive.
