Those MPs are just a start, we need more Labour MPs to defect and once a mass membership has voted on policies it's hard to see how it won't mirror Sultana's views.

The simple reality is that there's no way any party can be that truly democratic, as the people in parliament passing legislation will always have an outsized voice. That's why a party needs robust anti-bigotry principles as a founding feature, a point Corbyn evidently failed to realise.

For all his many decades of experience Corbyn is very naive when it comes to politics. I expect this party will make all the right noises (on SM anyway), but if he’s anywhere near the helm it’s doomed to heroic failure. Again.

I supported his efforts while he was leading Labour but unfortunately, I don't think he should be leading a political party, he keeps trusting the wrong sorts of people. It looks very much like YP is going to be a single issue Gaza party.

Same. Broadly I like the guy & I think he does genuinely believe in what he says (rare in politics), but he is fecking useless at winning & ultimately you do need to win. I know people who love him don’t want to hear it, but Corbyn is pretty toxic nationwide

I think his problem is that he is if anything a bit too utopian, he does genuinely seem to believe in consensus building, but apparently still doesn't seem to recognise that it doesn't mean you need to listen to literally everyone.

He made that mistake while at Labour letting people like Starmer in his cabinet, and now it's happening again with the likes of Adnan Hussain. A successful leftist coalition will need people for whom universal human rights are a principle, a position hardline religious conservatives will never share

Yeah, Starmer also lacks a massive degree of political intelligence. His issue being such a smug sense of his own cleverness that he believes his own hype, and therefore failing to realise that all he's doing is pissing almost everyone off.

This. Despite everything I like Corbyn, but I absolutely despise Starmer. The whole transphobia thing seems to be deeply personal to him. He’s a deeply stubborn man & seems to be conservative by instinct when it comes to social issues. Worst leader at the worst time

That's what I'm hoping. Absolutely. But that isn't guaranteed or the reality, right now. Until that changes, I'm not interested in the party because, at best, they're ignoring our human rights being stripped away. Well, except for Zarah.

Of course he isn't personally transphobic. But he was fine with Rosie Duffield being in his party, and he's fine with Adnan Hussein being in his party. He thinks it's fine to disagree on trans rights. Unlike, say, Gaza, or homelessness.

Urgh…I don’t know what to say Corbyn seems to think you can “have a conversation” & somehow resolve all this, but when a group of people *literally want to kill you* I don’t see how that works. This is why I’m not a pacifist (+ military family. Sometimes you have to kill the enemy 🤷🏻♀️)
