the "OC suburbs" are not a legitimate example of rural life, it is the thing that overran "tight knit communities" and small cities with a degraded version of LA/NY big city life, I suppose for the sake of imagined privacy.

Constant hyperstimulation is really not a healthy thing for people but we do seek it out obsessively while instinctively fearful of being overwhelmed by it. We should work on ourselves more.
