Studies actually show that 99% of trans youths who go through those "life altering choices" like transitioning do not regret it. And some youths' gender dysphoria is so bad that even thinking about developing as their assigned at birth gender gives them nightmares.
Do yourself a favor and watch I Am Jazz and you'd get a better understanding of the mindset of a trans youth. I'd also recommend reading Being Jazz.
I think it's awful that society forces young people into a binary sex choice. I would prefer an ideal of equality, and let your freak flag fly but here we are ==>
not that cis/trans is the only life choice young people make, which was my point. what sport to play, where to go to college, what crowd to hang out with, what kind of career to point to, all that kind of stuff.
Society is only forcing young people into a binary sex choice because of bigotry. Because of bigoted people like Gavin Newsom
same as they want all kinds of strict classifications, as by race, nationality, social class, political affiliation, etc etc etc you are your labels no argument
And btw, there are nonbinary folk. Bella Ramsey, who is probably best known for playing Ellie on The Last of Us, is nonbinary. They came out after the first season. Granted, I do unintentionally misgender them sometimes but I am working on that.
