It seems that we avoid a fair number of these discussions with regulatory (and engineering) work that allows more rooftop solar that can sell its electricity to the grid at a fair price without subsidies (prices resembling other places). But what moves that needle?
Solar -> EV is way more efficient than corn -> ICE when it comes to land use and several other metrics and yet farming corn for ethanol production is highly subsidised. docs.nrel.gov/docs/fy22ost...
