They wish the demise of the people but forget they really can't prosper w/o us. Feudalism collapsed under its inability to create new wealth. No workers, no consumers, nothing bought, they fail. So they will engage as feudal lords did, fighting one another for spoils. That's utopia? Riiiight.
I think that the plague helped end the feudal system. Half the population died so yes, no workers. It also opened up business opportunities for women that were unheard of before.
Those not in the manor per se created small communities where men and women needed to sustain themselves. Crafts flourished. In cities guilds arose including women who were in all but 3 in England. None of it was what we think of as business, but provided self sufficiency while manors faltered.
