Coming into the GE, trans people knew Labour were going to be a big problem. You don’t put in your manifesto two diametrically opposed statements: that trans people deserve ‘dignity and respect’ and ‘We will fully implement the Cass report’. Something had to give, and it was ‘dignity and respect’.
