Like the XX XY thing being gender markers was disproven a long time ago but these people haven't been in school for like 4-10+ years and often textbooks go decades without getting updated. Like, my 40 year old self recently found my high school still uses English books that share my birth year.

And some of their grades' science books are still ones that were 10 years old then I was there.

And sometimes dates don’t matter bc TX has a huge influence on textbook publishers and they demand the content follow and support their twisted ideas about sexuality and don’t even get me started on historical facts, particularly US History.

When my 22yo was taking bio in HS I looked at her textbook agape because holy wow things have changed. We know so much more and it’s much more complex.

This isn’t new information though. I remember learning about klinefelters syndrome and other variations in sophomore biology FFS.

Those aren't just "words people made." Those are specific actual exceptions to the simplified xx/xy paradigm.

Also, when folks are using the XY/XX descriptions, they are referring to just a few of the possible combinations that exist genetically. Also, these are descriptions of a person's sex, not their gender. XX/XY = Female/Male = Sex Woman/Man = Societal Construct = Gender They are not the same.
