I canvassed in one community—lower-middle class—and was gobsmacked at some interactions with people. Is it lack of education, is it years of being ignored or not knowing how to demand a response from our elected? Has dark money broken elections? Look at Congress & the Senate FFS!!
Over the last 30-40 years, definitely, but I saw this trend going back before WW2. Not sure if this was purely the effects of Jim Crow or lack of access to the voting box, but it's like some people are just along for the ride, regardless of where the car is heading.
Well I won’t be giving up and plan to canvass in a small impoverished city near me this time. Have volunteered there all summer & continue to do so. It is critical to get out the vote. Mamdani’s reached those who normally ride along and my early presence should mitigate some stranger danger. 🤞🏽🤞🏽🤞🏽
