Haha, beat the original "Legend of Zelda" for the first time since, like, college! After all the this time, the original in the NES gold cartridge remains one of the hardest games in the series.

Don't forget the second quest. Also the Famicom Disk System version is the true original where you have better music and sound effects, and have to kill an enemy by yelling into the second controller in some dungeons. So yea the NES version we got was a port. 😅

Alas, they never seem to want to release the Famicom version on Virtual Console. Though I do plan on tackling the 2nd Quest, which I definitely HAVEN'T beaten before (though ironically I found the 2nd Quest cheat code when I was a kid and didn't even know the main character was Link, not Zelda).
