Supposing that being the fastest in a marathon is the sole reason to run marathons (it isn't). Segregation of cis women in marathons was because they dared to run against cis men. They cited lubricous medical claims. The sheer possibility of cis women winning was enough.

No. Just, no. You're being diminutive of the history of women's sports when you say things like this, and that doesn't help either women or trans athletes. At the end of the day a marathon is a race. For women to win that race, there has to be a women's division, and that's OK.

Women have beaten men before. In fact the reason most sports are segregated is because a woman beat the men. Olympic sports used to include both genders. But they started separating them when women began winning.

"In fact the reason most sports are segregated is because a woman beat the men." You can keep saying this, but it just isn't true, and it does trans athletes no good to lie about the history.

Except it's a literal fact. Look up Zhang Shan. As soon as she won in a mixed event women were banned from competing until they segregated the event. She won a gold medal at the 1992 olympics in skeet shooting. The very next one there were no female allowed to compete. And then they added women

cis men will twist themselves into the most amazing shapes to justify the segregation of cis women in sports, it's a key aspect of their modern patriarchal privilege.

The first woman to run a marathon did so even though it was technically illegal for her to compete. She hid within the pack disguised as a man wearing a thick sweater. When she took it off during the race the other runners treated her as one of their own and the spectators cheered.

You're talking about Kathrine Switzer: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kathrin... It wasn't illegal for her to run, it was against the misogynistic rules of the race. The video of her coach body-checking the race director is still worth a watch today.

You do know that in the realm of sports "illegal" just means not allowed right? Have you ever watched a sport? There's literally a penalty in American Football just called "Illegal Touching"

"against the rules" and illegal are two sides of the same coin. You are being pedantic to get around the fact that cis women are segregated in a society that has accepted it for the collusion to exclude anyone else from any sport who doesn't fit their cis ideology.
