RFK Jr tried to claim that Vitamin A (also Cod Liver Oil) were "cures" for measles which obviously isn't the case, plus Mennonite communities are being hit the hardest. I've known (non-Menn) average laymen who ignorantly think that you can't overdose on "natural" vitamins/minerals, so... yeah.

Even taking supplements can just result in "expensive piss" (wasting your money if you aren't deficient) if you don't know what you're doing, unfortunately. Idk about Vitamin A specifically but several health problems can cause you to make (or retain) too much calcium, potassium, etc.

My wife's a practitioner and mentioned this to me the other day. She said the study he bases his belief on (that Vit A cures measles) was actually based on kids who were Vit A deficient, and then given it - measuring the delta between deficient and not. Really didn't have anything to do w/ measles.

Yup. Supplementation can definitely help when you're lacking it (understandably enough), but even then prevention/vaccines are waaaay more effective. And most in US get enough vitamin A from diet anyway (only 0.3% deficient in 2013)
