Actually a ton of the BSG design was amazing. The Galactica was just fabulous as well. When they did the reboot I was so happy they kept the majority of those design elements, because they were iconic

Yes! I remember endlessly drawing scenes involving them (at school when I was supposed to be doing something else) and trying to make some of them out of regular Lego.
I also tried to make them with the Lego I had. I made a pretty sweet Galactica once!
Those regularly recycled combat shots (e.g. one Cylon fighter exploding while two peeled away, IIRC) were probably a cost-saving thing, but helped establish a vocabulary for drawing big battle scenes.
And of course the 'logic' of the combat was a retread of WWII air combat: big ponderous bombers with turrets, smaller very agile fighters, with Galactica itself a wild combination flying-bomber-carrier (bridging to a nautical idiom protecting a civilian convoy).
The thing the reboot did update in a way that felt believable was the details of the combat doctrines designed around these. The way all the ships got used felt really real
I would build the shit out of a proper Lego Galactica though 🤔
Hell yes.
