Himself, as all self interested politicians are. I'd rather get sepsis than vote for Newsom as president but he's useful in the moment, in the same way an artillery barrage is.

This is the correct way to look at him right now. Of the high profile Dems right now, Pritzker is The Guy. If he can successfully push back he'll be the one everyone is looking for on their ballots.

Work with him as long as he is useful to the greater interests of the country, stop supporting him if he lets his self-interest get in the way. Politics should not be about personalities, but causes and ideals.
