there are examples of non-peacefully installing a fascist and peacefully removing them, like pinochet i can't think of an example off the top of my head of peaceful installation of a dictator with peaceful overturning. but then again, most dictators don't really show up peacefully to begin with

this isn't really correct at all - MIR had very little impact (if any) on ousting pinochet or toppling his regime. they never presented any serious danger to the regime itself, though they did manage to assassinate a few political figures sadly, the regime used them as motivation to increase

World History is replete with authoritarian regimes seizing and remaining in power via violence. In that normative world of human existence, with 'Justice' manifesting as the will of the strongest, only violence can break the chains of bondage so frequently associated with dictatorship. Even now.
Very few people in the US are likely to have the discipline or long-term commitment to do NVR. The last time was 60 years ago, and we’ve become weaker & stupider, and have shorter attention spans. We do have new technologies, but leadership in techno-resistance is lacking.

that's sort of a causation/correlation thing. violence is just very common; you could also say that any time there's a golden age of scientific breakthroughs there's violence in the background, but i doubt the violence meaningfully caused the breakthroughs
