US troops are in Europe because after WW2 there was a silent agreement - the US will be the 'world police' and in return will get privileged access to resources and markets. It works as long both sides respect the deal. If the US chooses to renege, it cannot expect the rest to remain as before.

I didn't 'try'. I read it. It's a good article, from the military perspective. Except the 2007 cyber attacks didn't 'nearly cripple' Estonia's digital infrastructure. They briefly damaged us. But the article didn't address the question, why is the US doing all this. What's in it for America?

Right now I have a feeling your Administration thinks they can withdraw the defence umbrella from Europe but everything else, political alliance, trade etc., will remain as it was. It won't. Because American military presence here has been a two-way agreement. There'll be no one-way agreement.

The U.S. isn’t providing a defense umbrella for Europe. 30,000 soldiers aren’t near enough to do that. It’s a partnership. But, yeah, Trump could walk away from that partnership.
