It is true. When Crinea held their referendum vote, they voted to become independent from Ukraine. Donbas wanted to hold the same referendum. They have been taxed without representation. Same as America's founding fathers. Note the build up of tanks before and on the date requested for the vote.

I think that's a bit of an over-simplification. Lots going on here. But yes that's certainly a part. Which gives China a lot of pause that their paper tiger of an alliance partner has been completely exposed. Overall, simply cannot appease putin. So I love to see this pushback.
