Natives of Washington, DC never think of it as "the nation's capital," it as our HOME--houses, neighborhoods, schools, playgrounds, garbage pick up, children, light bills, restaurants. The same as any other city, town, or village...it's "home." No other town would allow this to happen.
That’s as may be. But DC is really a city state. Other cities enjoy being part of a larger state with representation and resources. DC is not just the Nation’s Capital, it’s a Congressional playground. It needs to be free of that yoke to be it’s own state before you can be secure in your home.
