She’s a beauty
She’s a beauty
Purple Mountain Majesty 💗
Oh, can’t wait to be backpacking along it’s shoulder in a week.
i haven't heard --- is there some movement to change its name?
Although many of us grew up knowing it as Mt Rainier, 'Tahoma' was one of the original Native American names for it. Both names are currently used: volcanoes.usgs.gov/observatorie...
Wow what country is that in ?
Cascadia
Absolutely stunning!
Beauty-full
She's so sad looking. I am born and bred here, and she has never looked so naked 😞😞😞
Ditto, it startles me when I see her so bare, but still an amazing sight.
🥰
Now that's a great view!
Excellent beer, powers many geologists in the field.
youtu.be/f0Dse53ChTM?...
Also at home, while they crunch the field data they've collected. 😆
It's not what it used to be since the brewery was bought out, but they still serve it at the Sunrise Visitor snack bar in Mt Rainier!
Beautiful!
Thanks for sharing such a beautiful sight!
😍😍😍😍😍
Tahoma Beer!!!!
We are fortunate to live in a painting
Gorgeous!!! Thank you for sharing! We had a wild sunset yesterday due to smoke from nearby fires!
August 6, 2006. I knew my memory told me this mountain used to stay fully clothed year round.
Same with Mt Hood. Climate change means snowmelt before summer’s end. I looked at Hood a few days ago, & there’s more snow than last year at this time. But we do need to work harder. That’s our drinking water here in the PNW.
Memories of 1974 living in a basement apartment in the U District of Seattle, almost under the Ship Canal bridge, right off the express lane. But we could see this Mountain from outside our door.
I almost rented on that tiny little street there!
I never knew that little street had a name, Pasadene Pl NE. We lived at 650 NE42nd St for 2 years. Mostly the traffic noise from the bridge just blew over us.
Peaceful.
Great shot.
I love that mountain. I was there in 2005. It was one of the most wonderful experiences in my life.
Lovely❤️
So very lovely
The mountain does not climb the sky— it abides, vast, unmoving, yet breathing with light. Shadows fall, rivers turn, but its silence holds them all. Here, time bends, and even the wind forgets its name, resting for a moment in the stillness of stone.
Nice pic
Beautiful. What’s the Tahoma about?
I used to see this beautiful sight from my living room window everyday. Back in Australia now, but still one of my favourite memories.
Gorgeous!!
Beautiful ❤️❤️
I love living in western WA. I can see Rainier anytime I want here. It makes you feel small.
Anytime? ☁️ 🌧️ 🌧️
Mt. Tahoma. 65 years on the planet and STILL the learning happens!❤️
Actually… it is just ‘Tahoma’. Or, shocker, I know! ‘Tacoma’.
I am sooooooooooooo ready to go back!
I just returned home to Spokane after four days at the mountain. We rented a cabin at the midpoint between Sunset and Paradise. Literally on the mountain and we didn’t see it one single time because of fog and rain. Good thing it wasn’t my first time 😆
Pretty standard really 😂 She was hiding most of the time we were on the mountain too 😅
I just looked up why it’s called tahoma vs Rainer. Rainer came from a white explorer who named it after his “friend” who never even went to the PNW. This feels like a gay history moment being disguised as them being best friends
Beautiful. I love Mt Rainier.
Beautiful view it is
I've hiked in the National Park many times (I like just north of Seattle).
I mean "I live just north of Seattle". In Typo City, I guess... lol
Just Tahoma
As with Cher, Oprah, Jason, Gollum
Looking South?
♥️♥️
Now that is a fine looking mountain
Great colours.
🙏--Got lucky with timing & light!
Someday Seattle will be in real trouble.
If the mountain blows, the communities in real trouble are considerably closer to it than Seattle’s 96 mile distance. Lahars *could* reach Puget Sound, but would be fairly diminished by that time. The ash wouldn’t be fun, though.
I’m far more worried about the “full rip” earthquake we’re due for.
We used to call it "the big mountain" that we could only see once every two weeks or so....
My home.

Gorgeous shot! Thanks Paul! ❤️
Beautiful, Alisa🌅✨
Gurl!!!!! Stop it!! That’s a wonderful photo from an angle I haven’t seen from Portland!!! LOVE IT!!
Stunning. I live near Hood and often get a glimpse of both Hood & St Helens from I-5 in PDX. Always wondrous. Beautiful picture!
Terrific light. The variations make the scene come to life.
Absolutely gorgeous!!!
This is the first time I realized Rainier is not like a human last name but a state of excess rain how can I be this slow I'm oldish
It's way cool driving down I 5 in the early morning on a clear day looking at that volcano
Sleeping giant!
Tahoma is one of Mt Baker’s (Kulshan’s) wives. She left and journeyed south because she was jealous of the other wife. Allegedly.
Where did you take this photo? I was in Mt Rainier NP today, going back tomorrow. Would love to see this view
This view was from outside the park--in the town of Enumclaw.
Beautiful!!
Majestic
Beautiful
Gorgeous shot!
Why would anyone travel anywhere when we have national treasures in abundance right here❤️
The amount of Trump supporters who think that this mountain is Mount Everest is mind-boggling people. Completely mind-boggling.🤷🏿♂️🤷🏿♂️
Ahhhh my mountain 🏔️🏔️🏔️🏔️🏔️
❤️
