Judge the context for yourself

I didn’t hear one protester in Sunday’s anti-Israel rallies ask the obvious: why doesn’t Hamas end this war by just releasing its surviving Jewish hostages? More: why doesn’t Hamas end the “famine” and “genocide” of its people by laying down its arms? Even countries invaded by the Nazis surrendered rather than have their people suffer more. So think what it says about Hamas that it could look at the devastation of Gaza since it started this war, and conclude it should keep it going.

I hope that the response didn't imply anything other than the naive hope I'm clinging to that someone can't say something THAT obtuse, and not that the statement wasn't abhorrent. Somehow the context made it worse. (Thanks for sharing, I would have sought it, but made my life easier.)
