I'm not a Texan but I've always thought of Texas as a microcosm of the US; the people are largely good and decent but the government doesn't truly represent them and keeps certain preferred demographics in power. This has never been more true imo for both Texas and the US than it is now.

As an aside, I visited San Antonio a few years ago and loved it. The people I met were kind and chill and the mix of cultures and history was a lot of fun. I was won over so I'm invested when I see good folks in Texas being messed with.
